Orlando Bloom Thanks Joan Rivers for "Warm Welcome" With Cute Sign, Cake

Retuning the love! After Joan Rivers welcomed actor Orlando Bloom to her neighborhood on New York City's Upper East Side on Tuesday, Oct. 29 with a sign and cake, the handsome, suddenly single 36-year-old responded with a cute sign of his own.

"Thanks for the warm welcome Joan, darling," Bloom's hand-written note read. "Come see me on Broadway!" In the adorable photo, the Romeo and Juliet star gives a big smile while holding his sign in one hand and a large piece of chocolate cake in the other.

On Tuesday, Rivers, 80, was photographed leaving her NYC apartment holding a white sign and cake. "Welcome Orlando to the hood!" her note read. The E! Fashion Police star explained her intentions on Twitter that same day. "Excited to welcome Orlando Bloom to my NYC neighborhood!" she wrote. "No cup of sugar -- I brought him a full cake."

PHOTOS: 2013's biggest splits

Following Bloom's split from wife Miranda Kerr, the actor has been a hot commodity for photographers in the Big Apple. Rivers also posted a photo of herself being swarmed by paparazzi outside Bloom's home. "Oops! Sorry, Orlando!" she tweeted. "I didn't mean to cause such a commotion and shut down the whole street."

Unfortunately, Rivers' attempt to welcome the newly single actor didn't work out. "Orlando wasn't home so I gave the cake to the paparazzi," she tweeted. "Best line I heard: 'If you can't trust a cake from Joan Rivers, who can you trust?'"

PHOTOS: Flynn's cutest moments

Bloom and the 30-year-old Victoria's Secret model announced they were separating earlier this month after three years of marriage. During an appearance on Katie Couric's self-titled talk show on Friday, Nov. 1, Bloom said that, despite their split, he and Kerr will remain close in order to raise their 2-year-old son, Flynn. "We're a family. We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives," he explained. "There's no question that, you know, for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."
