Prison seems to have done Amber Portwood some good. Shortly after the former Teen Mom star was released from Indiana's Rockville Correctional Facility on Monday, Nov. 4, her brother Shawn took to Twitter with an encouraging status update on his 23-year-old sister.
"Amber is out and looking better than she ever has because she is clean (of drugs) and healthy," he wrote. "Time to start a new chapter. #Iloveyousis."

"I think I speak for everyone when I say we all are [rooting for her]," he said in response to a sweet tweet from Sharon Bookout, mom to Portwood's ex-Teen Mom costar Maci Bookout. "But after spending the day with her I know she will be OK."
As previously reported, Portwood was released on parole after serving just 16 months of what was originally said to be a five-year prison sentence. She was photographed leaving the prison on Monday, wearing gray sweats and a huge smile.
"She earned a combination of earned credit time for good behavior and completion of programming, which resulted in her period of incarceration being reduced," Douglas S. Garrison, chief communications officer for the Indiana Department of Correction, explained to Us Weekly. Not that she's off the hook completely. Garrison noted that the MTV star -- who began her sentence in June 2012 after a December 2011 arrest on drug-related charges -- will now be subject to "random drug screening."

Incidentally, Portwood's release date, Nov. 4, has been a big day for her family in the past, too. "Amber and I realized today that 3 yrs ago today I was honorably discharged from the Army," Shawn tweeted. "We will never forget this day for sure."
